Tottenham Manager Frank Calls Vicario Critics 'Not True Genuine Fans'

The Cottagers Begin Powerfully to Defeat Spurs and Raise Tension on Frank

Spurs supporters who jeered goalkeeper Guglielmo Vicario were informed afterwards "those individuals cannot be true Spurs supporters" by manager Thomas Frank.

Tottenham let in a pair of goals in the opening initial moments to fall 2-1 to Fulham, marking their tenth Premier League at home loss of 2025.

However the primary talking point was Fulham's second score when the keeper lost the ball far beyond his box.

The goalkeeper ventured out to handle a high pass and took the ball near the touchline.

However, rather than booting it out of play, the Italy international turned and tried to clear away, but slipped as the ball glanced off Wilson and was controlled by King.

The forward laid the ball off to Welsh midfielder Wilson, who bent a shot into the goal from the touchline measured at thirty-six point six yards.

Moments afterwards when the ball came to the keeper once more, some Tottenham fans booed him.

Spurs were jeered off at the interval, with the club 2-0 behind, and again at full-time.

One of those booing episodes truly angered the manager.

"It came to my attention a few of our supporters reportedly booed the incident and booed after, which, in my view is completely unjustifiable," the Dane commented about the fans' response to his goalkeeper.

"Those individuals cannot be true Spurs supporters that act that way. Fair enough jeering after the match, no problem, but when we are playing, we are backing each other, we are behind each other going forward."

Kenny Tete had handed Fulham a early lead before Wilson's goal – with Mohammed Kudus scoring for Tottenham in an better second period showing.

Former Premier League keeper Joe Hart remarked that the second score was "completely preventable".

"I do understand the fans' frustration," the ex-keeper continued. "I know the part the keeper is playing. He's a great squad member, he is a real figure in the locker room but in the end you are going to be judged by your actions.

"He was deeply implicated in what ended up to be the winning score."

Thomas Frank Stood Up For His Goalkeeper Vicario Following the Match

Italian international the keeper is in his 3rd campaign with Tottenham.

He stated after the game that he had to take the criticism.

"That score was a error of my own, I accept accountability for that," he said.

"My aim was to kick the ball far and I just struck the ball in a poor way. That made an more difficult challenge to climb."

He stated being booed "is part of the game".

"I'm a big man, what can I say?" he added. "We can't be affected by the circumstances in the stands. Supporters have the right to do as they see fit.

"It is on the team to remain increasingly calm, to concentrate on our own performance. We are lacking in calmness and calmness to overturn results. This match is a bad loss and it's hard to accept."

'I Was Surprised No One Went Back to the Line'

In spite of Vicario's error, it was far from an simple score for Harry Wilson to convert.

Actually it was the next most distant Premier League goal of the season – following Adams' 43.3 yard strike for Bournemouth against the Black Cats, which interestingly too came on the same day.

The goalscorer said he was "a little bit taken aback" that he still had an empty net to aim for.

Ten moments elapsed between the keeper coming out of his box and the midfielder shooting – which was five moments after the clearance.

"It seemed to me like the goalkeeper was away from the area for ages," he remarked.

"It amazed me not one of the defenders returned to the line. When none of them defended the goal, my eyes sparked somewhat.

"[Destiny] Udogie fell as well, which gave me a little additional time. Then it was solely about attempting to achieve the right connection and get it on target. I had a good sense, the moment it came off my boot, that it was heading in."

Jeering While We Are Still in Play Is Completely Unacceptable - Frank

While Vicario's mistake dominated coverage, this was an overall poor day for Spurs to extend their home woes.

The match was their tenth at home defeat of 2025 in the Premier League, a shared club record along with 1994 and 2003.

They still have home fixtures against Frank's old side the Bees and title holders Liverpool to play prior to the end of the season.

Only one of those victories have occurred after Frank replaced his predecessor in the summer.

"When you're down 2-0 after six minutes, there is a mountain to overcome," said the boss.

"During in a poor run, everything seems to go against you as well – the opening was a deflected attempt, the second is a error from the keeper.

"This result puts us in a position where we have lost another game. Every game has a single story, today we lost in the first six minutes.

"We just need to continue striving. The later period was significantly improved and hopefully an aspect we can use to develop."

Tottenham have lost four straight home London derbies for the first time in the top division.

Furthermore they are recording nine point five attempts and three point two efforts on goal per match in the Premier League – their poorest rates on record in a one campaign (since at least 2003-04).

Ex- Fulham midfielder Danny Murphy commented that Frank has to endure the criticism.

"He's got accept the stick," the pundit remarked. "He has accepted a prestigious job at a huge team with massive expectation. There is pressure and duty that accompanies that.

"Their showings at their stadium have been disappointing and they have to improve {quickly|
