24 from Nigeria Young Scholars Freed After Eight Days After Abduction

A group of 24 Nigerian-born girls who were abducted from their boarding school more than seven days back are now free, the country's president confirmed.

Attackers stormed an educational institution located in local province recently, killing one staff member while capturing two dozen plus one scholars.

Nigerian President government leadership applauded security forces regarding their "swift response" to the incident - despite the fact that the circumstances of the girls' release were not specified.

The continent's largest country has witnessed numerous cases of captures in recent years - including over 250 children taken from faith-based academy last Friday yet to be located.
